2015 Football Heroes – Welsh Community Football Awards
|THE SEARCH FOR 2015 FOOTBALL HEROES BEGINS FOR THE WELSH COMMUNITY FOOTBALL AWARDS
PRESENTED BY McDONALD’S
Nominations are now open for North Wales Coast Football Association Grassroots Football Awards.
The Football Association of Wales, the Welsh Football Trust and its Community Partner, McDonald’s, have
announced that nominations for the annual Welsh Community Awards are now open.
Since 2008, The FAW and McDonald’s Community Awards have been celebrating and recognising the hard
work of unsung local heroes who devote their time and effort to grassroots football in their communities,
championing the achievements of volunteers, clubs and leagues in counties across Wales.
We are urging people from across the region to nominate their unsung heroes
across eight award categories as recognition for their commitment and achievements in football.
The eight award categories are:
? Grassroots Impact (Regional & National)
? School of the Year (Regional & National)
? Volunteer of the Year (The People’s Award) (Regional & National)
? Young Volunteer of the Year (Regional & National)
? Club of the Year (Regional & National)
? Community Coach of the Year (Regional & National)
? Performance Development Coach of the Year (Regional & National)
? Lifetime Achievement Award (Regional & National)
Grassroots football makes a vital contribution to the health of the national game and it is tremendous that The Football Association of Wales, the Welsh Football Trust and McDonald’s are recognising these clubs and individuals again in 2015 with the Community Awards.
Every week in Wales, thousands of people dedicate their time and efforts to provide fun and rewarding
football experiences in their communities. Without their hard work, football in Wales simply would not exist.
The awards are a great opportunity for us to celebrate the dedication and commitment shown by clubs, coaches, players and volunteers across the country and we urge everyone to nominate a dedicated
volunteer they know.
To find out more about the awards, read about last year’s winners and nominate an individual club or league
from your community, visit www.welshfootballtrust.org.uk/awards or contact me at guy.handscombe@welshfootballtrust.org.uk or 07825581149
Nominations for regional awards close on 25th May 2015 and the national award winners will be announced at
The Welsh Football Community Awards presented by McDonald’s at the annual National Ceremony in September or October. The national winners will be selected by a judging panel which will include McDonald’s Director of Welsh Football Ryan Giggs who is involved in the search for the winners of these prestigious awards.
McDonald’s has been working with The FAW for 13 years to improve the standards of grassroots football. As
part of McDonald’s continued support for the grassroots game, 500 accredited clubs with a junior team will
be given the opportunity to order a brand new adidas strip every year for the next four seasons. This means
there is potential for over 7,000 strips to be distributed to clubs across Wales this year.
