About the Colwyn & Aberconwy Junior Football League

About the League

The Colwyn & Aberconwy Junior & Youth Football League aims to facilitate the playing of Youth, Junior, and Mini-Football, including girls’ participation.

The Junior League season runs from early September to the end of May with matches, round robins and festivals arranged for players aged 6 up to 17 mostly played at weekends and occasionally weekday evenings.

The League is managed by an Executive Committee consisting of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, General Secretary, Safeguarding Officer, Disciplinary Secretary, Fixture Secretary, Referees Appointment Secretary, Treasurer, and Honorary Presidents.

The Committee has the authority to deal with any matter not expressly covered by the League Constitution & Rules, provided it does not contravene any mandatory rules or regulations issued by the North Wales Coast FA (NWCFA) or the Football Association of Wales (FAW).

The League’s membership and boundary boundaries are Abergwygregyn in the West to the Afon Ddu at Llanddulas in the East. Heading South from Llanddulas, the boundary extends as far as Pentrefoelas and includes the communities of Betws yn Rhos and Llangernwy.

All participating Clubs within the Colwyn & Aberconwy Junior Football League must complete a Club Accreditation application through the FAW COMET system. This application assesses the Clubs coaching, safeguarding, and governance practices and requires all Club Officials, Managers and Coaches to have current DBS checks and the appropriate FAW coaching and safeguarding qualifications.

The FAW evaluates the application to determine the club’s level of accreditation.

Accreditation Levels:

Standard: The minimum level required for clubs to play junior football

Bronze: A step up from Standard, indicating improved practices and resources.

Silver: Further enhancement, showcasing a more developed club with good coaching and safeguarding.

Gold: A high level of accreditation, demonstrating strong governance and sustainable practices.

Platinum: The highest level, recognising clubs with exemplary practices and a significant impact on the community.

Requests to join the League are determined by the Executive Committee’s approval and vote by member Clubs.
